Future Music Festival round 2 announced!
Future Music Festival

Posted on January 16 2010

With less than two months to go before the award-winning Future Music Festival sweeps the nation, Future Entertainment are proud to announce an exciting series of lineup, stage and arena additions that are guaranteed to make 2010 the event’s biggest and best year to date.

How big? Well, for starters, hot on the heels of their latest and greatest artist album ‘We Love Machine’, legendary UK Progressive House, Breaks and Trance duo, Way Out West, will debut their highly acclaimed LIVE show on Australian soil for the very first time and are set to take the Future Music Festival on a once in a lifetime sonic journey as they perform a sublime mix of their studio
gems – old and new – 100% LIVE.

Alternative rap fans will be in rapture, because America’s global alternative Hip Hop phenomenon, Spankrock, is packing their bags for Australia and promising to bring the noise and party with them as they take the underground Hip Hop faithful on a high octane jaunt through their explosive cache of Baltimore Club bombs and electro-fuelled dirty rap bangers.

Continuing the Future Music Festival’s proud tradition of showcasing Australia finest electronic talent, Sydney DJ/Production Bag Raiders will be on hand with their kazoos and Flamenco guitars to reveal their new madcap LIVE show for the very first time; while the prodigiously talented and ARIA Awardwinning quintet, Operator Please, will give their legion of Indie fans a 100% LIVE and exclusive sneak peak of their forthcoming sophomore album’s playlist.

And epitomising the festival’s dedication to presenting the very freshest sounds on offer, piping hot Hip Hop/Soul newcomers Space Invadas (featuring Steve Spacek of Portishead fame and Katalyst) and LA’s latest audio riot Jump Jump Dance Dance (featuring Groove Terminator and Christ Carter) will hit their respective stages running as they perform exclusive, unreleased material from their
highly anticipated debut albums.

As if all of these local and international artist lineup additions weren’t enough, this year’s Future Music Festival will also see the return of the hugely popular and totally interactive Silent Disco arena, and the deliciously random and utterly hilarious Solid Gold Rollerdisco rink. Offering perfect escapes from the hustle and bustle of festival life, these unique, quirky and much-loved arenas are firm favorites with those in the know.

And finally, in news that’s literally sure to send Trance fans ‘above and beyond’, eminent global Trance record label, Anjunabeats, is hosting its own, fully-branded and themed arena for the very first time on Australian shores. Featuring a premium selection of some of the imprint’s biggest artists (including Above & Beyond, Super8 & Tab, Jaytech and Matt Zo) playing the latest upfront Trance
that they’re famous for, the Anjunabeats Stage is, quite simply, the perfect addition to the nation’s favourite electronic music festival.

So, get ready to for the experience that will last you a lifetime and remember.

 My Festival Experience

Children Collide
I was very young - very very young – and I tried something for the first time and it was at Big Day Out and Sound Garden were playing and it was meant to be the last Big Day Out ever and I was lying down on the grass watching Sound Garden and feeling [ahh] pretty good. laughs

Ideal Lineup?
Wow this could take me days to go through – The Birthday Party, Scientists, The Drones, The Stabs who are a Melbourne band, Hungary Ghosts… I could go on for ever!

Fave artist you've seen at a Music Festival?
Oh, when I was really really young, too young to be at a festival I got snuck in to Summersault Festival and saw Sonic You play… that was amazing!

Tips for attending a Music Festival?
Stay out of the sun definitely! I’m a very very white man and at Big Day Out I got burnt just walking from our band tent to the stage… 30 seconds in the sun – so definitely slip slop slap!
