GRAMMY-nominated rockers Leeland play two shows in Australia next week, starting a short tour downunder before they jet back to America for the prestigious awards.
Travelling over 13,500km from their hometown of Baytown Texas, the band will stop in Brisbane and Sydney before heading to New Zealand for the popular Parachute Music Festival.
Leeland’s latest album LOVE IS ON THE MOVE was recently nominated for the Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album GRAMMY, for this year’s upcoming ceremony.
This is the third consecutive year they have been nominated for the award, and Leeland will find out at the January 31 ceremony if they will receive their first win.
Catching them before the rush, Parachute Music presents Leeland, alongside Family Force 5 (U.S.) and NewWorldSon (Can), for two Australian concerts.
On Tuesday 26 January, they stop in Brisbane’s Citipointe Church, and on Thursday 28 January they will perform at Sydney’s C3 Oxford Falls.
Fronted by 21-year-old songwriter Leeland Mooring, Leeland are one of the biggest names in the global Christian music industry.
Their concert marks New Zealand based Parachute Music’s second foray into hosting events in Australia.
The Christian Music organisation is known for running the annual Parachute Music Festival in Hamilton, New Zealand, which annually attracts a crowd of 25,000.
Tickets to these Brisbane and Sydney concerts are $38 from Word Bookstores, and Word.com.au. Please visit parachutemusic.com for more information about the pre-Parachute Festival gigs near you.
We did a festival in melbourne and it was a great. We got to hang out with Grinspoon and drink with those guys.
What are your tips for attending Music Festivals?Don't get drunk to quick. Pace yourself. So many people drink really quick at the start and it always ends up messy.
Favourite Music Festival? I would have to say 'Big Day Out'. To any band it is great to be able to perform there its an honor. I was happy because when we did it 'Rage Against The Machine' were also playing that year and it was just one band I had always wanted to see play.
What's your ideal music festival line-up?Blink 182, Greenday and if I gould dig Jeff Buckley up, I would have him there to.
Favourite artist you’ve seen at a Music Festival? Rage Against The Machine.
