 My Festival Experience

The Panics
One of the best was Splendor In The Grass a couple of years back when we had just released our album cruel guards. I just remember this massive circus tent overflowing with people singing along, people on each others shoulders, just great atmosphere.

Worst Festival Experience?
Remember being very young and losing my friends, and my shoes at a festival in Perth. I had to climb a tree out the front and wait for them and try and spot them on the way out, and someone threw a chicken at me!

Do you remember going to you first festival? What was it like? (How old were you? Who did you go with? Who did you see? What did you wear?)
I remember going to festivals with my guitarist Drew when we were teenagers. I think the earliest was one called sommersault in perth, I was about fourteen and remember Beck playing. I think we probably had pink hair and army pants like everyone else that day! I remember kissing a girl, I was pretty stoked with that because I remember drew did not kiss a girl...ha!

What festival essentials do you always bring with you? Or are there certain rituals you always do or things you always check out?
I dont bring many valuables because I lose them often... including guitars!

Best and worst things you’ve seen people wear at a festival?
I've seen people nude, generally that goes in the 'worst' bin. white dresses with red wine stains down the front are a favourite.seen a guy passed out in a tux on a forty degree day, I enjoy that too.

Funniest thing someone has come up to you and said at a festival or silliest behaviour you’ve witnessed?
I've seen people fall out of trees. I remember a guy in a bin wearing lipstick laughing his head off, thats pretty weird. ive had a guy come on stage when we were playing, put his arm around me and just stand there giving the crowd a thumbs up and a big smile for a song, that was pretty strange.

Sounds Loud Festival lineup announced!

Think that you have filled up your summer festival calendar? Well think again... a new festival has launched in the way of Sounds Loud Festival 2010.

To be held in Queens Park, Moonee Ponds on Sunday the 11th of April, from 11am to 7pm, the Sounds Loud Festival boasts an impressive line up that includes some of Australia’s best music acts and next big things over three huge stages.

The first line up announcement includes:

Bluejuice
Whitley
Hungry Kids of Hungary
Yacht Club DJs
Polo Club
50 Lions

+ many more to be announced!

Formerly known as the Moonee Valley Youth Week Festival, last year’s event attracted 5000 young people from all across Victoria.

Event organiser Ella Mason said that it was only natural that the festival evolved in response to its growing popularity.

“The event has gained so much momentum over the past six years that we’ve decided to open it up to a wider audience, hence we’ve re-launched it as the Sounds Loud Festival”, Ms. Mason said.

“As an all ages, drug, alcohol and smoke-free music festival, we’re still catering to the young people in our community. However, by shedding the youth festival tag we’d like to be more accessible and appealing to a wider demographic”.

The festival will also include roaming performers, hip hop dancers, street art, market stalls and food vendors.

Stay tuned for the second announcement of artists coming soon!

If we were hanging with you and your band backstage, what would we be getting up to?
An interesting display of acrobatics as we stretch before the show. It usually involves weird push ups, slightly awkward stretches, and dancing with our guitars.

If you could request anything on your rider what would it be?
an enormous selection of pizza toppings, and an old Italian man and his oven to assemble and cook the most amazing pizzas in the world right in front of us.

Give one of your personal favourite bands a plug.
Emery... a very underated band from the UK.. they write some of the most amazing lyrics i have ever heard.

What's your most essential item to take on tour?
other than our guitars.,, deodorant, sunglasses... and knives and forks.... nothing worse than being stinky, having the sun in your eyes, and not being able to eat your pasta salad.

What's your secret talent?
cooking instant noodles...

AND... Where are we best to stalk you: MySpace, Facebook or Twitter? Which one's updated the most?
We have them all! but Myspace is the place to go for your updates and you can listen to our music for free!
