Sounds of Spring second artist lineup announed!

26 September, 2009. You best save this date. Sounds of Spring have just added another 20 killer acts to the already exciting line-up of Australia’s best indie acts.

With Early Bird tickets now sold out, Sounds of Spring is destined for a huge second birthday and all the acts below are going to be there to help you celebrate with us. Check out some of their latest tunes on MySpace (links below).

The Butterfly Effect, Little Birdy, Blue King Brown, British India, The Panics, Tim Rogers, Drapht, Clare Bowditch, Ash Grunwald, Mammal, Dead Letter Circus, After The Fall, David McCormack & The Polaroids, Nancy Vandal, Kill Devil Hills, Horrorshow, Hermitude, Cloud Control, The E.L.F, I Heart Hiroshima.

Brisbane hard rockers, The Butterfly Effect, are back in town with two recently released singles, “In These Hands” and “Final Conversation”, off their huge 2008 album Final Conversation With Kings.

Little Birdy has featured in countless triple j Hottest 100 countdowns and will be serenading you with a bunch of your favourite swaggers and new material from her 2009 album release, Confetti.

Discovered by legendary UK old-ravers, the Happy Mondays, The Panics have released three albums and bagged a J Award for Album of the Year with Cruel Guards in 2007. There’s already a new album in the pipes and the boys will be touring to the UK, US and Sounds of Spring in 2009.

An incredibly engaging live act, Blue King Brown, will take to the stage with a truckload of instruments and full 9-piece band. Treat your ears to some urban roots with conscience.

British India has come a long way since forming the band as schoolmates back in 2004. From rocking out in their garage to touring Australia as one of the country’s best Garage-rock acts, British India charted at #5 on the ARIA Album Charts with Theives and also notched up a Hottest 100 entry for the first single of the album, “I Said I’m Sorry”.

You’d know him as the frontman for one of Australia’s most respected rock acts, You Am I. It wouldn’t be an Australian music festival without Tim Rogers and band.

WA Hip-hopper, Drapht and his alter-ego “Jimmy Recard” (#10, 2008 Hottest 100) have been added to an already exciting list of Aussie hip-hop acts at SOS. He had tour support from Downsyde and Pez earlier this year, who will also join him at the festival.

triple j favourite and one of the country’s best female vocalists, Clare Bowditch returns from Europe to once again grace Brisbane with some of our favourite tunes. Expect to hear tunes from celebrated albums like What Was Left and The Mood Looked On.

You asked for them and here they are… Mammal! Direct from Melbourne and by popular demand on the Sounds of Spring social media networks. Hard-rockers, Mammal, will definitely bring the funk.

“One Man Band”, Ash Grunwald seems to tour the world endlessly and he’s dropping into Brisbane this September. He cracked triple j’s Hottest 100 last year with the infectious roots track “Breakout”.

Don’t miss out on tickets to Brisbane’s own Sounds of Spring in 2009.

Here’s the full list of acts so far… and there’s another round of announcements yet to come!

THE LIVING END, THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT, JOSH PYKE, LITTLE BIRDY, THE PANICS, FRENZAL RHOMB, BLUE KING BROWN, BRITISH INDIA, THE BEAUTIFUL GIRLS, SHIHAD, BUTTERFINGERS, TIM ROGERS, DRAPHT, CLARE BOWDITCH, DOWNSYDE, URTHBOY, MAMMAL, ASH GRUNWALD, CHILDREN COLLIDE, SHONEN KNIFE, DEAD LETTER CIRCUS, AFTER THE FALL, QUAN, PEZ, PHRASE, DAVID MCCORMACK & THE POLAROIDS, THE HARD ONS, THE FAUVES, RHUBARB, I HEART HIROSHIMA, NANCY VANDAL, KILL DEVIL HILLS, TOOTHFAERIES, DJ PERPLEX, TEXAS TEA, HORRORSHOW, HERMITUDE, CLOUD CONTROL, DJ KATCH, MY DISCO, NUMBERS RADIO, THE TONGUE, GIANTS OF SCIENCE, ROGERTHAT, THE E.L.F, KATE BRADLEY AND THE GOODBYE HORSES…PLUS MORE STILL TO BE ANNOUNCED.

Sounds of Spring 2009 is an 18+ event. Head to www.soundsofspring.com.au for more info on tickets to this yearʼs festival, all the announced acts, and to sign up for good-old-fashioned-VIP-email-updates.
