 My Festival Experience

Horsell Common
As a band we played the Pyramid Rock Festival at Phillip Island last year, that was a very awesome thing to be a part of. Was so hot you felt like you were going to die but was worth every second.

Ideal Lineup?
Reading Festival 92 was a pretty unbeatable lineup, not that I was actually there. Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Mudhoney, Beastie Boys… Say no more!

Tips for attending Music Festivals?
Pace yourself, try not to one of those people passed out next to a porta-loo before the sun has even had a chance to go down. All the good stuff happens at night and you’re gonna want to remember most of it. Bands like us love to play festivals because the vibe can be incredible, so yeah… get on it and have a great time, just don’t make an arse of yourself.

Green Day

Posted on June 21 2009
Green Day officially announce Australian tour dates!

In 2004 Green Day unleashed American Idiot on the world. A boundary smashing, genre confounding work of art, American Idiot changed the face of music, welcoming a new generation of music fans to the cult of Green Day.

In 2009 Green Day returned to stamp their authority on the music world releasing 21st Century Breakdown. Hailed as the jewel in an already impressive crown, 21st Century Breakdown has confirmed Green Day’s status as one of the greatest rock bands in the world.

It’s with great pleasure The Frontier Touring Company announces Green Day’s return to Australia and New Zealand as part of their 21st Century Breakdown World Tour. This will be Green Day’s first visit since 2005’s explosive stadium and arena spectaculars.

If past tours are anything to go by, fans are sure to be thrilled as Green Day take to arena stages in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland this December.

The release of 21st Century Breakdown signaled the end of a five year silence from Green Day. Breaking the drought in resounding fashion, the album debuted at #1 in over 14 countries. Australia and New Zealand’s love affair with Green Day has been reignited, with 21st Century Breakdown already being certified platinum in both countries.

The studio isn’t the only place Green Day continue to shine, however, proving their ability to blow live audiences away night after night through their 20 year career. In 2005 Green Day played major cities across Australia and New Zealand to a chorus of rave reviews

There’s no doubt that Green Day will continue to amaze when they return in 2009. Their last arena shows Down Under sold out in a matter of minutes, and with a fiercely loyal fan base behind them, Green Day’s 21st Century Breakdown Tour is sure to do the same.

ANTI-SCALPING MEASURES TO BE TAKEN FOR GREEN DAY TOUR

Historically Green Day have a reputation for looking after their fans, and their upcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand is no exception, with the band confirming two special initiatives in conjunction with promoter The Frontier Touring Company to deter ticket scalping for their upcoming shows.

The first initiative calls for a return to the good old days of rock concert lineups where 300 GA standing section tickets will ONLY be available to fans who lineup at designated outlets (for a list of each city’s outlet please refer below*). Each person will be limited to a maximum of 2 tickets each; essentially meaning the first 150 people in line will be guaranteed the hottest tickets in town.

The second initiative applies to all Green Day tickets, whether purchased online, via phone or at outlets. As many popular auction sites do not permit items to be sold unless the seller has the item at time of the auction and/or the buyer receives the physical item within one month of purchase, hard physical tickets will be held back for delivery or collection in early November. Patrons purchasing tickets via internet or phone will be issued with standard confirmation details; those purchased via outlets will be issued with a preliminary receipt as proof of purchase for their tickets only.

If a fan has purchased tickets and subsequently changed their address they will need to ensure they update their details with the relevant ticketing agency (see frontiertouring.com for details) before Friday 16 October, 2009.

If we were hanging with you and your band backstage, what would we be getting up to?
Games of twister in our underwear, limbo and pillow fights in slow motion with feathers everywhere. Nah, not really, we tend to be pretty tame back stage, we just like to have a drink and a chat to calm the nerves. You might find Jo trying to decide which floral shirt looks the best and Tom working through a few blues licks on the guitar to warm his fingers up.

If you could request anything on your rider what would it be?
Tom: A selection of cured Italian meats and cheeses. And bison grass vodka with cloudy apple juice and lime would be the drink of choice

Give one of your personal favourite bands a plug.
JUST ONE?? The Eagle and The Worm is a group of super Melbourne musos led by Jarrad Brown from Custom Kings. They are tight, the music is very well written, and their gigs are good times! Bean is largely unknown but is perhaps one of Melbourne’s best kept secrets. She’s a singer/songwriter with an amazing voice and really interesting songs. She also knows how to really rock out. The Box Rockets are awesome! They’re prolific giggers and always blow us away.

What's your most essential item to take on tour?
Lumber support. Sounds dull, but seriously, hours and hours or driving can give you a really sore back. We discovered that if you fill a 1.25L plastic bottle with water and place it behind your bum in your seat, the back pain disappears, incredible! We should patent that.

What's your secret talent?
The ability to make a perfect Risotto.

AND... Where are we best to stalk you: MySpace, Facebook or Twitter? Which one's updated the most?
Myspace is definitely best.
