I was very young - very very young – and I tried something for the first time and it was at Big Day Out and Sound Garden were playing and it was meant to be the last Big Day Out ever and I was lying down on the grass watching Sound Garden and feeling [ahh] pretty good. laughs
Ideal Lineup? Wow this could take me days to go through – The Birthday Party, Scientists, The Drones, The Stabs who are a Melbourne band, Hungary Ghosts… I could go on for ever!
Fave artist you've seen at a Music Festival? Oh, when I was really really young, too young to be at a festival I got snuck in to Summersault Festival and saw Sonic You play… that was amazing!
Tips for attending a Music Festival? Stay out of the sun definitely! I’m a very very white man and at Big Day Out I got burnt just walking from our band tent to the stage… 30 seconds in the sun – so definitely slip slop slap!

New Alex Lloyd Album To Be Released Independently
Alex Lloyd returns with a brand new album ‘Good In The Face Of A Stranger’ which will be released November 1 through Inertia Distribution.
This will be Alex’s first ever independent release. “Inertia are very excited to be on board as a part of Alex’s new project. Alex Lloyd is one this country’s most respected artists and has proven himself as a singer songwriter not only capable of writing anthemic rock tracks but also music of a more reflective nature. With ‘Good In The Face Of A Stranger’ Alex has made a back to basics album that enables him to shine and show his pure musicianship. This is Alex’s career defining release.” Colin Daniels – Managing Director, Inertia.
Written, recorded and produced in London by Alex, where he has been based for the past two years, there is purity and an honesty in his new songs that is reminiscent of his debut release Black the Sun. The pressure from fans and indeed detractors alike is off and now there is only the music.
The first track to be lifted from the album, ‘Slow Train’ was officially launched through Alex’s website a few weeks ago, taking the music to the fans and giving them the first opportunity to download the single for free for a limited time. The track is accompanied by a stunning animated video which features approximately 7000 hand drawn pictures. The clip was created by a London based animation team who had the arduous task of piecing the drawings together. Many days turned into nights for the team while creating the clip, however, reward came via the finished product which is being described as ‘unique, thought provoking and artistic’.

If we were hanging with you and your band backstage, what would we be getting up to?
If you were hanging out with John you’d definitely be drinking beer. It wouldn’t matter what else was going on, if you were with John, you’d be drinking beer. Greg and I tend to wrestle before gigs these days. So you could get involved in that if you wanted to. Greg would probably win though. He’s surprisingly strong for someone with spider legs.
If you could request anything on your rider what would it be?
I can tell you what everyone else would request. Andrew would ask for Jameson’s, Greg for a glass of red, and John would go for a cold Heineken or strong continental equivalent (his words). I’m pretty easy when it comes to drinks. I’d probably prefer to have ten guitar picks on the rider. I lose them every show and always have to beg and borrow off other bands.
Give one of your personal favourite bands a plug.
If I’ve only got one I’ll give a shout out to (sort-of) Brisbane local Stu Larsen. Music for me is all about songs and all about being genuine. Stu writes brilliant, genuine songs and has a great voice to sing them with. It’s not all that often you get a great, simple combination like that in an artist.
What's your most essential item to take on tour?
After my gear it would have to be a pillow. I forgot to take one last time we were on tour and driving through the night starts to get shit when you can’t sleep. Guitar cases aren’t comfortable to rest your head against.
What's your secret talent?
Finding grammatical errors.
AND... Where are we best to stalk you: MySpace, Facebook or Twitter? Which one's updated the most?
It’d be a tie between Facebook and Twitter. Myspace is over. Our website is also pretty handy: www.montpeliermusic.net
Down With Webster
Down With Webster a 7-member, genre-bending, musical juggernaut draws on disparate influences to create a wholly original musical feast. Their chaotic live shows are the stuff of local legend, selling 1000+ tickets as headliners in their hometown of Toronto as an indie band before ever releasing a single or video.
The band writes, produces and performs all of their music, garnering attention from industry veterans as varied as Timbaland and KISS front man Gene Simmons, both of whom wanted to sign the band to their respective labels. DWW won the Rogers Mobile/Universal Music best unsigned artist in Canada contest in 2008.
