Adelaide Big Day Out. We were staying in the same hotel as other artists and I came downstaris to go to the after party and a big crowd was surrounding Aracde Fire and Bjork at the grand piano in the restaurant of the hotel. They were doing old show tunes and everyone was singing along. The lead singer of Arcade Fire was playing piano and everyone was singing along. I recall Buddy Holly's 'Everyday It's Getting Closer', a couple of ABBA songs and some John Lennon, it was very cool. Favourite festivals moments though are just when it's a good show with good reactions, where you don't have to think too much on stage and lose yourself.
Ideal Lineup? I'd have bands that would never be seen on the same stage because they've long since broken up or died, I'd have Blur opening the festival followed by the Smiths who would reform for my music festival, and At The Drive In would finish the day just when I was drunk enough to dance like they can.
Fave artist you've seen at a Music Festival? Rage Against The Machine. Also, Brand New who are a vastly under rated band from New York that played at Big Day Out. I saw them pretty much without fail at every Big Day Out and they were astounding, and to use the the cliche, quite inspiring. I've ripped off many of their moves since then!
Tips for attending Music Festivals Don't break your neck. Don't worry too much about getting to the front for every band you want to see. It's probably better to pick 4 or so that you can really absorb as opposed to having cursory glances at every one. It's like any 'day out' it's best to pace yourself, don't go mental and try to see everything, relax and take it all in.

The Herd dominate at the AIR Awards
Acclaimed Sydney hip-hop collective The Herd have picked up two prestigious honours at 2008’s annual AIR Awards (Australian Independent Records Labels Association), being named: ‘Best Independent Artist’ and ‘Best Independent Hip Hop Artist’ for 2008.
The victory saw The Herd beat out an impressive field of competitors, including The Waifs, Ricki-Lee, The Getaway Plan, Lior and Birds Of Tokyo in the ‘Independent Artist’ category, and Muph & Plutonic, Katalyst, Resin Dogs and A-Love in the hip hop category.
This enormous achievement follows another recent milestone for The Herd, whose Elefant Traks label recently celebrated its 10th Anniversary with a monumental performance. Last Saturday, The Herd – as well as labelmates including Hermitude, Urthboy, The Tongue, Horrorshow, and Astronomy Class – took to the stage of Sydney’s The Forum for a landmark one-off show, celebrating a decade of success for the iconic Australian hip-hop imprint.
"After celebrating ten years of our label Elefant Traks over the weekend it was a real buzz to win these awards,” says Elefant Traks founder and Herd emcee, Tim Levinson (aka. Urthboy). “Strange things do happen."
The AIR Awards victory and 10th Anniversary celebration cap off an extraordinary year for the veteran, eight-piece hip-hop collective. Releasing their fourth album ‘Summerland’ in May, The Herd have jumped from success to success: debuting at #7 in the ARIA charts, scoring an Album Packet on Triple J and Album Of The Week on Sydney’s FBI, having their first single “The King Is Dead” selected as Channel V’s Ripe Clip Of The Week, and playing to over 13 000 punters on their national ‘Summerland’ tour. In recent months, the group have been lauded for second single, “2020”, which has had its Mike Daly directed clip nominated for a J Award in the ‘Best Music Video’ category.

Every Time I Die

If we were hanging with you and your band backstage, what would we be getting up to?
We'd probably get all crazy on our laptops and check insane ass message boards or write some totally mind blowing emails.
If you could request anything on your rider what would it be?
A carton of cigarettes. I'd save so much money!
Give one of your personal favourite bands a plug.
Just want to say what's up to every time I die. your new record is awesome!
What's your most essential item to take on tour?
My iPod. Tour is the only time I really listen to music. And podcast. It's essential.
What's your secret talent?
I can do 3 front flips!
AND... Where are we best to stalk you: MySpace, Facebook or Twitter? Which one's updated the most?
Twitter for sure. I'm only entertaining in short bursts so 140 characters is perfect
Down With Webster
Down With Webster a 7-member, genre-bending, musical juggernaut draws on disparate influences to create a wholly original musical feast. Their chaotic live shows are the stuff of local legend, selling 1000+ tickets as headliners in their hometown of Toronto as an indie band before ever releasing a single or video.
The band writes, produces and performs all of their music, garnering attention from industry veterans as varied as Timbaland and KISS front man Gene Simmons, both of whom wanted to sign the band to their respective labels. DWW won the Rogers Mobile/Universal Music best unsigned artist in Canada contest in 2008.
