News: Delta Goodrem to support Andrea Bocelli in the US!
Delta Goodrem will be joining renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli as the special guest on his U.S. winter tour kicking off in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on November 28th. The U.S. tour has been announced on the heels of Bocelli’s highly anticipated new CD release, My Christmas. Goodrem is set to perform three songs with Bocelli as part of the concert.
Commenting on the US announcement, Goodrem said; “I am deeply honoured to be joining Andrea for his U.S. concert dates. He is an incredible artist and live performer. It will be a privilege to share the stage with Andrea and be a part of what will be a spectacular night of music for his American fans.”
Goodrem will cut short her current songwriting sessions for her new album to depart for the U.S. this week in preparation for the first concert date in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday November 28th. She will not be performing at the scheduled New Jersey or Fresno dates in the US and will be returning to Australia on Sunday December 6th to perform for her own Sydney Opera House Christmas & Hits concert.
“I have a commitment to my Australian supporters to celebrate Christmas in song here in Australia. This opportunity cements a treasured time for me during the holiday season. The US dates are a part of my on going American journey and it’s a real pleasure to be able to perform live in both countries.” said Delta.
Bocelli’s concert dates will celebrate much of the repertoire the classical crossover singer has made world-famous over his incredible career as well as music from his upcoming release My Christmas, giving his fans a wonderful welcoming to the holidays. Bocelli and Grammy Award-winning producer David Foster also recently taped a joint Public Television Christmas concert-special in Los Angeles, which will air as part of the PBS Great Performances series beginning late November. In addition to the TV special, Andrea’s stateside promotional activities around the release of My Christmas will also include high-profile TV appearances alongside the live concert dates, all culminating in the most heart-warming musical experience of the year.
Bocelli received rave reviews throughout his U.S. tour last Summer as an artist showing confidence and mastery in both classical and pop worlds. “His tone was smooth and brimmed with emotion…he owned Madison Square Garden,” celebrated the New York Post, and the Hollywood Reporter rejoiced, “[Bocelli] brings a passion and joy to such familiar [classical] pieces,” proclaiming, “It was a triumphant appearance.”

We played an amazing festival called T in the Park in Scotland, which was a year and a half ago now, but that was really amazing in terms of being, by far, the biggest crowd we've played infront of, I think it was- we played in the dance tent, and it was the middle of the day, so it wasn't night time craziness, but they packed like 20,000 people into this tent, and it was totally round, it was just the best kind of crowd to be playing infront of, we were really suprised and weren't expecting to get such a big reception, particually in Scotland. We only really had played a handful of shows in Glasgow and hadn't really played anywhere else, so yeah, that's definitely up there.
Ideal Lineup? We kind of actually had this discussion when we first started playing together, before we even did any shows as Cut Copy, we made up these phoney band names and played a few shows at this pub, sort of on the wrong side of the tracks and a bit run down, you could ring up like the night before and get a gig the next day, so it wasn't really like, you know.. anything amazing. But we booked in, I think a couple of times under false names, just to make sure we could actually play our instruments and do everything before we actually put Cut Copy up on the stage, and I think in that year we sort of had this imaginary- it wasn't like a festival it was kind of the idea of billing this gig where it was us headlining with Sonic Youth, and then Daft Punk would be like the warm up DJs, and that was like our ultimate show, ever! And then we've actually played with Daft Punk at the end of last year so we just feel like we've maybe partly lived that dream a little bit, even though they obviously weren't the warm up DJs for us, but yeah, we've ticked off one of those things at least. All we've got to do now is play with Sonic Youth!
