Franz Ferdinand and the Hives will headline The Falls Festival (held December 29 - 31 in Lorne, VIC and Maron Bay, TAS) and the Byron Bay Festival (held January 7 - 8).

The 2008 Falls Festival lineup features a rich and diverse line-up that is already shaping up to be one of the best in the 16 year history of this iconic festival.

Also on the Falls lineup is Eli Reed & The True Loves, The Cat Empire, The Kooks, The Grates, Gomez, Faker, Tegan and Sara, Soko, Donavon Frankenreiter, Jamie Liddel, TZU, Mytery Jets, Architecture in Helsinki, Atmosphere, Brother Ali, The Dodo's, A-Trak, Wolf & Cub, Liam Finn, The Drones and more to be announced.

Meanwhile in Byron Bay a similar lineup will welcome back the Byron Bay Music Festival. The Cat Empire, The Kooks, The Grates, Gomez, Faker, Tegan and Sara, Donavon Frankenreiter, Soko, Jimmy Willing and the Real Gone Hick-Ups, Dubshack, Ghost Mountain, Tijuana Cartel and Sara Tindley are the first acts to be announced for the festival's return.

Tickets for both festivals go on sale via a ticket ballot in September. Visit www.fallsfestival.com and www.byronbay2009.com for more information.
