The Amity Affliction to release their debut album “Severed Ties” and announce one of the biggest local hardcore / punk tours of the year. The Amity Affliction have become one of the most well known hardcore bands in Australia via a hard touring ethic, a stunningly original sound and a commitment to creating a fun and exciting atmosphere within the punk scene of Australia. As they get ready to unleash their debut album, “Severed Ties”, on October 4th via Boomtown Records, they have also announced their album tour through October and November. Along for the ride are three of their close friends’ bands – Rex Banner (NSW), A Secret Death (QLD) and House Vs Hurricane (VIC), rounding out one of the most complete local bills of the year. Hailing from the gutters of Brisbane’s potent hardcore scene, it seemingly took The Amity Affliction years to get their shit together. But from the moment they released their “High Hopes” EP in 2007, the touring rampage began. In no time, The Amity Affliction was a household name amongst the hardcore and punk community of Australia, their mixture of metallic riffage, punk rock swagger and sing / scream vocal attacks making its mark on all who got in their way. But it’s not just their music that people have taken notice of – Amity (as they are affectionately known) have an attitude and aura about their music and actions that has helped propel them even quicker to the forefront of the scene. Fans come to their shows expecting flat out fun and excitement – the members always committing to making the party after the show as intense as the performance itself. The sing-alongs don’t end when the band gets off stage, and fans don’t leave after they play. With members involved in putting on punk rock clubs, music magazines, graffiti magazines, graphic design companies and online blogs that are well known throughout the country, Amity and its members are well engrained into the culture and ethic of Australian hardcore and punk rock culture. “Severed Ties” was recorded in July & August of 2008, a grueling cross country marathon of a recording done in Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane to get the best results. With guest vocals from JJ Peters (Deez Nuts, I Killed the Prom Queen), Crafter (I Killed the Prom Queen, Carpathian, Confession), Matthew Wright (The Getaway Plan) and Helmet (The Daylight Curse), and production from Adelaide’s Darren Thompson, the 12 songs full length promises to be one of the most anticipated local releases of 2008. The album will be released on October 4th via Boomtown Records, with the first track “Fruity Lexia” to have its world premiere on Triple J’s “Short Fast Loud” on August 27th. The track will be available online from September 1st via the Boomtown and Amity websites. Their national album tour will kick off in their hometown Brisbane on October 10th, and will take in the East Coast and West capitals, with regional hub drop-ins along the way. With three of the best up and coming hardcore and punk bands along for the trip, the tour promises to be one of the most exciting rampages of the year.
