Starting Sunday & Brittle join Faker on tour for JD Set!

Following two weeks of online voting by music fans, Jack Daniel’s is excited to announce that owning stages with FAKER on the second tour of THE JD SET (www.thejdset.com.au) for 2009 are Melbourne rockers BRITTLE and STARTING SUNDAY! Well done Melbourne!

The second tour of THE JD SET in 2009 will start Thursday, 6 August at The Prince Bandroom in Melbourne before jetting to Sydney on Friday, 7 August to play The Metro and then, in keeping with the tradition of Jack taking the tour bus to audiences further a field, the bands will head up to Townsville to play The Club at James Cook University on Saturday, 8 August. To make the promise of showcasing some of the country’s finest new live talent in some of the country’s favourite venues even more appealing, Jack Daniel’s will continue to keep the policy of NO DOOR CHARGE!

As a bonus for Sydneysiders, there will be a limited number of guaranteed entry tickets available for The Metro show, again boasting no door charge. For more details on how to secure a place in the venue and up the front fans should visit www.thejdset.com.au now!

Releasing their debut album this year BRITTLE are a band to keep an eye on. They are just as stoked as Jack Daniel’s are to be touring with FAKER, “As a band it is important to connect with new audiences all the time. We have been touring around the country for a little while now and we always take away a new experience. Faker have the ability to put on a great show and with hard work have been able to gain the respect of the industry and their fans alike. It is an exciting time to be on the road and
every show for us is an experience and learning curve.”

Having introduced their new line-up earlier this year, STARTING SUNDAY have recently unleashed their self-titled EP and are stoked to be touring on The JD Set. Lead singer/guitarist, Rhys Thompson, says it best, “Being part of larger scale shows and tours such as The JD Set is an amazing learning experience which we\'re excited about. There will obviously be a lot to learn from Faker, it is one thing to put on a great show, but it is a whole other skill to be able to back it up night after night, whilst moving from city to city, with flights, long drives and hours upon hours of waiting around. We are beyond ecstatic to be given this opportunity. To play alongside Faker, to play to packed houses at some of Australia’s best venues and to have a sneaky couple of Jack’s along the way, is a dream come true. We’re excited as anything and can’t wait until we hit the stage early August.”

Coming off the back of a huge support tour with arguably one of the biggest pop acts Pink, Nathan from FAKER says the band “Were drawn to doing the JD Set as we feel it enables us to give something back to the music community. We’re really glad to be able to help give a leg up to new emerging artists.”

Jack Daniel’s is continuing to support the strength and growth of the Australia live music scene through THE JD SET. Giving music fans across the country the opportunity to experience some of the best and freshest live talent that Australia has to offer!

A key element of THE JD SET will be involvement with Support Act Limited (SAL) Australia’s Music Industry Benevolent Fund which provides relief and assistance to members of the Australian music industry in need or suffering hardship.

The Black Eyed Peas announce Australian tour dates!
Posted July 2 2009
The Frontier Touring Company is thrilled to announce the return of apl.de.ap, Fergie, Taboo and will.i.am – the quartet collectively known as The Black Eyed Peas – to Australia and New Zealand this October. Performing in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth and Auckland, this will be the band’s first tour of Australia and New Zealand since 2005, and will see The Black Eyed Peas present their most spectacular show to date; The E.N.D. World Tour.

The Black Eyed Peas will tour in support of the most successful album of their career, The E.N.D. (in store now through Universal). Building on an already stellar past that has seen the band release multi-platinum albums, a plethora of monster singles, and highly successful solo albums from Fergie and will.i.am, The E.N.D. has helped The Black Eyed Peas soar to new heights.

On The E.N.D. The Black Eyed Peas expand their musical repertoire, combining electro-hop with hip-hop and their innate ability to write unforgettable tunes, ensuring both fans of the old and of the new have fallen for their latest offering. The E.N.D. became the band’s first US album chart topper, and debuted at #1 and #2 in Australia and New Zealand respectively.

The success of lead single ‘Boom Boom Pow’ broke records around the world, sitting atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 12 consecutive weeks (and counting) and the ARIA chart for six, only to replace themselves with second single ‘I Gotta Feeling’ this week – previously a feat only achieved by ABBA, Madonna and The Beatles, and by no other artist in the 20th century.

It’s on stage, however, that The Black Eyed Peas excel most. A flurry of enthusiasm, energy and excitement, a live show by The Black Eyed Peas is not one you’ll forget overnight. The band’s last tour drew rave reviews for their originality and ability to shatter expectations.

“They expanded the parameters of hip-hop to pop and mainstream contexts, then drove it home with an explosive performance.” – Herald Sun

“…the Black Eyed Peas show transcended hip-hop’s conventions and delivered a high energy, ready-made party soundtrack.” – The Australian

“Resistance is futile” – Sydney Morning Herald

The E.N.D. World Tour promises to deliver all this and more. Housing their most sophisticated tour production to date and state of the art visual effects, The Black Eyed Peas have vowed to step it up and make this their best tour yet.

The first taste of what is to come came from the band’s weekend performance at England’s Glastonbury Festival. Thrilling fans with an elaborate stage set up, extravagant light show and a first class set list, there’s no doubt The Black Eyed Peas have raised the bar for their forthcoming tour. Game on.
