It’s rare for an artist to instantaneously capture the attention and respect of millions around the world following the release of a debut album, and even rarer to back it up with a compelling second album, all the while garnering a strong reputation as being one of the most entertaining R&B/pop acts to have emerged over the past five years.
That’s exactly what ambitious, Virginian born and raised 19 year old, Chris Brown has achieved, culminating in the re-release and repackaging of his 2007, ‘Exclusive’ album, a CD/DVD titled “The Forever Edition”.
Kicking off with the bold and funky Throwed, the album progresses through an impressive array of Brown’s commercial releases including recent dancefloor hit Kiss Kiss, the pulsating grooves of Wall to Wall and the sincere chart favourite, With You.
The ‘Exclusive’ Forever Edition package includes a 30 minute DVD behind-the-scenes documentary of Chris Brown’s 2008 US tour, on which Brown provides a rare insight into various aspects of the tour and tells of how he has reinvested a large sum of his career earnings into producing his stage show, modelled off self-professed idol Michael Jackson.
The live concert footage gives viewers a glimpse of a slick and spectacular production comprising frenetic dancing, acrobatics, pyrotechnics, holographic images and an innovative set design which incorporates a rising b-stage that oscillates and almost topples onto the crowd mid performance.
Also included in this exclusive collection is a swag of bonus tracks including cameos from the likes of Kanye West, The Game, and Bow Wow, featuring the techno-experimental, Forever, which has a strikingly similar feel to Bloc Party’s recent single Flux.
With this release Chris Brown has yet again proved again that he is a class all his own.
