| Interview | How's the Coke Live tour been going for you so far? Access All Areas.net.au: It's been amazing... a life changing experience The Hot Lies: I'd say like it's not often you get to go and play stadium shows for a week and a half!
Access All Areas.net.au: When you were first approached to join the Coke Live N Local tour this year what was your instant reaction? The Hot Lies: Let's do it! The Hot Lies: Where do I sign?
The Hot Lies: We missed out on going on tour with the Veronicas like a few months before that, we got offered to go do some shows and we were like bummed out because we couldn't do them and then when we found out this was coming together it was kind of like oh this is nice. It's such a different audience you know so just the chance to get out and play our music to that totally different audience. Some kids come out and say we have only seen you once or never so it's a real opportunity in that sense.
Access All Areas.net.au: Any favourite bands on the bill? The Hot Lies: We've got a new found love for Evermore and End Of Fashion. The Evermore guys we didn't think what they were going to be like we were like hmmm you know they are like really really awesome dudes!
The Hot Lies: They're amazing, all the bands have been amazing, just friendly even the opening bands, everyone.
Access All Areas.net.au: This isn't the first time you've toured with After The Fall, what's it like to be catching up with the band and touring together again? The Hot Lies: It's good it's been a few years because it was on their first album that we went on tour with them and it was our first EP and so it's always good to catch up with old friends and what not and yeah hang out. It's always good to do that.
Access All Areas.net.au: Ok so this is the last show of the Coke tour, is there any goss from this tour; bad habits from other bands, anything that's happened on the road? The Hot Lies: Everything's kind of moulded in to one big show, kind of like a blur. Has anything happened? I don’t know every night it's not like you go out there and play your half hour and that's it and you do whatever, it turns in to you’ve got to do heaps of promo, meet lots of people, do heaps of stuff for the fans and kids out there but yeah the night goes really quickly.
The Hot Lies: We've played footy a few times!!
Access All Areas.net.au: You've achieved a huge amount of success with your EP 'Heart Attacks and Callous Acts' have you been surprised at how this EP has leveraged the band in to tours like Coke Live and your fan base? The Hot Lies: Yeah we've been really lucky actually. It blows our mind every time we think about it like we get to do this kind of stuff and we've only had two EP's out and everyone else has got albums and stuff its like different for us.
The Hot Lies: It kind of is holding us back putting our album out but at the same time what other bands get to do that sort of stuff with their EP so we’re pretty grateful.
The Hot Lies: No pressure for the album though [laughs].
Access All Areas.net.au: So when can we expect the debut album out? The Hot Lies: Once we get home we've got to really knuckle ourselves down and like we've got three quarters of what would I say... seven tenths [laughs] or six tenths of the album done. If you do a pie chart... [laughs] eight out of fourteen... depends if you're counting riffs or songs but we've got a lot of ideas but not a lot of completed songs. We're aiming for early next year... we'll be right.
Access All Areas.net.au: Any hints on what fans can expect from it? The Hot Lies: It will still sound like us I'm sure, Mikey's new in the band so I guess his input in guitar and his guitar style playing will probably show through in a lot of the stuff because obviously if you put someone different in the mix it's always going to sound different. It's going to be pretty life changing [laughs]... It's like nothing you’ve ever heard... it's going to change lives... it's changed my life already. [laughs]
Access All Areas.net.au: So what's the plans for 2007 and ahead? The Hot Lies: The albums the main priority, we're not going to play again until the album is ready. We just want to get the album over and done with. |
