ARTIST INTERVIEW
Access All Areas.net.au: Hey Ronnie, How are you?
Ronnie: I'm doing really good thank you.

Access All Areas.net.au: Your new album "Lonely Road" will be released February 3, are you excited to have it come out after all the delays which have occurred?
Ronnie: Oh yeah, We are. We are really happy to finally get it out there.
Did you take any different approaches to writing the songs for this record which you may not have done for your previous one?
Not at all. We did it exactly the same way. We start off with the riff and then go from there and then towards the end I come in with the lyrics.

Access All Areas.net.au: On the record, there seems to be a change to a more alternative rock & less pop sound, how has this change occurred & were there any artists influencing you in taking this new direction?
Ronnie: No, we didn't really plan it that way, we just wrote the music we wanted to make.

Access All Areas.net.au: Your album was recorded with producer Howard Benson, who has done previous work with bands such as Hawthorne Heights, My Chemical Romance & Papa Roach. Was this an enjoyable experience & do you feel you got the best record out of working with him?
Ronnie: I do. I honestly think we did the best we could with this record. I know our fan's are going to be pleased with it.

Access All Areas.net.au: In recent times, you have parted ways with guitarist Elias Reidy, has this departure effected the band at all & do you feel you have found an easy transition to the new guitarist in the band?
Ronnie: Well, we have went back to one of our guitarist that used to play with us before. We have had about 4. But, like any band you just deal with it.

Access All Areas.net.au: You have done a number of shows over the years to benefit such causes as youth suicide, natural disasters & cruelty to animals, is there any reason you guys do these shows or are you just supporters of good causes?
Ronnie: We do it because it's something we all believe in. We have our own charity organisation called Red Jumpsuit Apparatus Guardian Angel. It always feels good to say yes to something and have passion for it.

Access All Areas.net.au: You are coming to play Soundwave 2009 here in Australia, which you were scheduled to play in 2008 but were forced to cancel. Are you guys excited to be finally getting down to do some shows for the Australian fans?
Ronnie: We are, we made sure that it was one of the first things we did seeing as we had to cancel before. So, to get out there its going to be good. The kids need to prepare to have there faces shredded with some good rock!

Access All Areas.net.au: You are on the line-up with a whole bunch of great artists, anyone you are looking forward to in particular?
Ronnie: Oh yeah, the set list for it is great. I would have to say Nine Inch Nails... Alice In Chains. We have friends who are on there to. Bayside being one of them. But, yeah nothing can beat standing watching Nine Inch Nails from the sidelines and for free. Haha. Trent Reznor is a genius.

Access All Areas.net.au: Aside from the soundwave dates, you have 2 sideshows in sydney & melbourne, which you are doing with Forever The Sickest Kids, Jack's Mannequin & Bayside. Are you looking forward to these sideshows & are you happy with the line-up you have accompanying you on the dates?
Ronnie: Yeah, you know I think we are looking forward to this a little more than Soundwave. Only because as a fan of Red Jumpsuit you will see more of our set. I think we will be playing for about an hour and a half. Where at Soundwave we do have limited time. Plus, we have never played on the same bill as Jack's Mannequin so, it will be a first and we are interested to meet the guys from FTSK.

Access All Areas.net.au: At these sideshows, will there be much different done in the set to what would be played at one of the Soundwave dates?
Ronnie: Just longer sets really and being able to showcase more of our stuff to our fans.

Access All Areas.net.au: Having played a few festivals over the last few years, are there any memorable experiences you have had at a festival?
Ronnie: Yeah, but wow. Yeah way to many to pin point just one.

Access All Areas.net.au: While playing in the band, has there been any festivals you've played at that have been your favourite?
Ronnie: Bamboozle. They always do a great show.

Access All Areas.net.au: What are the plans for the band in the near future?
Ronnie: We are pretty much going to tour until Spring.

Access All Areas.net.au: Thank you so much for all your time Ronnie. I wish you guys all the best.
Ronnie: Thank you. Have a good day.

 My Festival Experience

Horsell Common
As a band we played the Pyramid Rock Festival at Phillip Island last year, that was a very awesome thing to be a part of. Was so hot you felt like you were going to die but was worth every second.

Ideal Lineup?
Reading Festival 92 was a pretty unbeatable lineup, not that I was actually there. Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Mudhoney, Beastie Boys… Say no more!

Tips for attending Music Festivals?
Pace yourself, try not to one of those people passed out next to a porta-loo before the sun has even had a chance to go down. All the good stuff happens at night and you’re gonna want to remember most of it. Bands like us love to play festivals because the vibe can be incredible, so yeah… get on it and have a great time, just don’t make an arse of yourself.
