ARTIST INTERVIEW
Access All Areas.net.au: This will be your first time in Australia, you must be excited to be playing to a new crowd!
Ben: Yeah yeah! If it wasn't for new crowds it would be insane to play the same songs all the time.

Access All Areas.net.au: Have you heard anything about Australia that you are keen to check out whilst you are here?
Ben: We didn't really have a summer being in England. So we're hoping to make up for that. I'm pale though and plan to buy a HUGE sun hat. Also I'm a bad swimmer but like to swim. I hear the waves are good.

Access All Areas.net.au: What can Australian fans expect to see from a Hockey live show?
Ben: If you have the album it's pretty much like that but with a lot more energy. Like the album on steroids.

Access All Areas.net.au: You’re here to play Laneway Festival, is there anyone else on the lineup that you are keen to check out whilst you are there?
Ben: Yeah Florence and the Machine. And the XX

Access All Areas.net.au: You’re no stranger to playing at festivals... how do festival vibes compare to your own shows?
Ben: It depends. Sometimes it can be a bit more mellow because people are there more to check you out rather than there for you alone. But we've found some high energy at festivals in the past so you never know.

Access All Areas.net.au: Your current single is called Too Fake, can you tell us a bit about the track?
Ben: We wrote part of it during a live jam at our friends birthday party. I just starting looking around and saying I was too fake for the world and that sort of clicked with the moment. Then we refined the song a little latter. It's sort of about a sincere person forced to act in superficial ways to fit in.

Access All Areas.net.au: Have you ever come across somebody that is fake, and what did they do that made them fake and how did you feel in that experience?
Ben: No one can be really fake all the time. But I knew someone with an insane high pitched fake laugh that they would use after everything that they said. I didn't mind.
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Dance punk/indie rockers Hockey, hailing from Portland, Oregon will make their way to Australia for the first time to perform at the Laneway Festivals and headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne.

Hockey comprises singer Benjamin Grubin, guitarist Brian White, bassist Jeremy Reynolds, drummer Anthony Stassi and touring keyboardist Ryan Dolliver, and have been compared in their sound to bands such as The Strokes and LCD Soundsystem.

Hockey spent 2009 performing at international festivals Glastonbury, Reading & Leads, T In The Park, Bonnaroo and Hove as well as touring with Passion Pit and Friendly Fires.

The band's debut single "Too Fake" received great radio support on indie stations and Nova ahead of their debut album release through EMI ‘Mind Chaos’.

With second single "song away" acting as a holistic mission statement wrapped in a nod and a wink, "These scruffy bike-riding vegans could easily be enjoyed by fans of Dylan, Springsteen and the Hold Steady as much as they
could by devotees of LCD Soundsystem" says U.K.'s Guardian newspaper. "See them now while they are still playing small rooms," advises Time Out New York.

"Hockey's debut album 'Mind Chaos' out now, featuring 'Too Fake' & 'Song Away'"

 My Festival Experience

Sneaky Sound System
It’s too hard to pick one, we love festivals. In no particular order: Playing the big Dance Arena at Glastonbury 2008, Main Stage Good Vibrations 2007, Splendour in the Grass 2007, Big Day Out 2009...I could go on and on.

What would be your Ideal Lineup?
One stage with David Bowie, Queen (we’d have to bring Freddie back from the dead), Daft Punk, The Cure, Bloc Party, Prince & Bon Jovi (yes, Bon Jovi). There would be DJ sets in between by Sven Vath, Boys Noize and me old mate Ajax.

Favourite artist you've seen at a Music Festival? Daft Punk, David Bowie & Bloc Party

What are your tips for attending Music Festivals?
Enter with an open mind and leave with a twisted one.
