ARTIST INTERVIEW
Access All Areas.net.au: How did the band come together?
Frost: We went to high school together. Most of the kids there played in bands.

Access All Areas.net.au: Where did the band's name come from?
Frost: A friend of the original line up thought of it. That line up broke up. We had heaps of Frost stickers made so we keep the name instead of throwing them out.

Access All Areas.net.au: Where did your interest in music come from?
Frost: As long as I can remember I’ve always been into music. Loved artists like: Kiss, The Beatles, James Taylor, Seals & Crofts etc…

Access All Areas.net.au: How would you describe your style of music to someone unfamiliar with it?
Frost: Guitar driven pop with sprinkles of piano (maybe?)

Access All Areas.net.au: Who do you see as your musical influences?
Frost: Many many artists. To name only a few, – GNR, AC/DC, You Am I, James Taylor and of course the Beatles.

Access All Areas.net.au: When a fan goes to one of your shows what can they expect?
Frost: Seeing a live band.

Access All Areas.net.au: I know there’s the saying what goes on the road stays on the road but c’mon can you tell us any funny stories you’ve experienced whilst on tour?
Frost: I hate flying, never liked it. The other guys drink and talk on planes so I like to sit bye the window and sleep. We also talk a lot, and I mean a lot of crap, that only we would find funny.

Access All Areas.net.au: How has the band progressed in the time you've spent together?
Frost: More life experience, which has affect on the songwriting. So better songs, I think?

Access All Areas.net.au: Do you prefer the recording or the live experience? Why?
Frost: Both. To do both is a good balance. I love the recording process and created that finished product nicely package for the consumer. It’s very rewarding. I also love the interaction you get at live shows. Meet people having a beer with them, that sought of thing is always a real buzz too!

Access All Areas.net.au: What are your thoughts about the current musical climate within Australia?
Frost: I think it’s really good. Heaps of great artists and a lot of great punters who go see them live. Also there’s great support in this country with indie acts too.

Access All Areas.net.au: What have you learnt from being in the music industry?
Frost: Persistence and treating everyone with respect goes along way.

Access All Areas.net.au: Is there anyone you would like to record with?
Frost: Heaps. Tim Rogers, Mark Seymour, Paul Kelly, Paul McCartney etc…

Access All Areas.net.au: Is there anyone you would like to tour with?
Frost: Heaps! – Coldplay, Radiohead, You am I, Weezer, U2, Bloc Party etc…

Access All Areas.net.au: What is the plan from here on in?
Frost: More shows and other release in the near future.

Access All Areas.net.au: What can you tell us about your new release?
Frost: It was recorded with help from Cam McKenzie (ex-Horsehead) and manufactured/distributed through Shock Records. At the time of the recording Rohan Heddle (ex-Cordrazine) was in the band so he’s drummer on it. The album has ten tracks on it and was heaps of fun making it. So far it’s the best one Frost has produced to date! It’s available at all good record stores and online too. Support an indie band and get a copy!!!! www.frostband.com.au

Access All Areas.net.au: Do you have any words of wisdom for any up and coming musicians?
Frost: Sure! Have fun!

Access All Areas.net.au: Do you feel you have more control over your career as an independent singer/songwriter?
Frost: Yes in some ways. Its our budget that some times needs a top up.
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
FROST, Australia’s hardest working band??? Hmmm, let’s go on a quick tour..

FROST came together in Melbourne and after spending the next few years playing gigs, the band was selected to appear on the US college sampler, ‘Cheap N Easy’ – Unleashed by US companies; Gold Record Music & Music Rebellion.

Following this the trio was selected to be part of the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) project, ‘The SBS Whatever Music Project.’ This lead to the group’s song, ‘You and Me’ receiving hi-rotation on Nova 100, SBS Television and being added to the Federation Square’s ‘Big Screen’ playlist.

Frost were selected to appear on the MGM best seller compilation, ‘Independence – Volume One’ along side Aussie artists such as; Bluebottle Kiss, Skulker, Rhubarb, Intercooler, Epicure, Intercooler, Rollerball and Geneieve Maynard.

The band then managed to gather up enough of their own money to record their first four-track EP, ‘The Usual Suspects,’ – which was received with mixed reviews and featured Jerry Speiser (ex-Men at Work).

Now joined by Rohan Heddle (ex-Cordrazine) and after many live shows,’ Lemon, Timmy Porne and Rohan entered the studio to record the groups first full length album in early 2005 with producer Cameron McKenzie (ex-Horsehead). After the recording Rohan Heddle left, which saw the return of the bands original drummer, Joe James.

Towards the end of 2005, FROST’s recent shows include - The Greyhound Hotel, The Rob Roy, The Victoria Hotel, Ruby’s Lounge, JB Hi Fi (Bourke St, Melbourne) and HMV (Mid City, Sydney) and the release of the bands self-titled debut album.

 My Festival Experience

Horsell Common
As a band we played the Pyramid Rock Festival at Phillip Island last year, that was a very awesome thing to be a part of. Was so hot you felt like you were going to die but was worth every second.

Ideal Lineup?
Reading Festival 92 was a pretty unbeatable lineup, not that I was actually there. Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Mudhoney, Beastie Boys… Say no more!

Tips for attending Music Festivals?
Pace yourself, try not to one of those people passed out next to a porta-loo before the sun has even had a chance to go down. All the good stuff happens at night and you’re gonna want to remember most of it. Bands like us love to play festivals because the vibe can be incredible, so yeah… get on it and have a great time, just don’t make an arse of yourself.
