ARTIST INTERVIEW
Access All Areas.net.au: Hey Deano, how’s it going?
DH – Deano: Hey Ben, not much, just doing some press.

Access All Areas.net.au: In about a months time you have the new record out for the band, looking forward to this?
DH – Deano: Yeah, its been a little while since we had some new material come out, so its good. This new material i’m excited about as its so much more heavy & intense then our last record & i’m really happy with what we were able to do in the studio.

Access All Areas.net.au: With writing for the record, you guys do anything different?
DH – Deano: I don’t think so, we spent about 7 or 8 months writing & 2 months in the studio, it was a pretty usual procedure. We had a while working on our instrumentation for the record as we wanted that to be right & then our new singer Travis worked on his lyrics & we put it all together in the studio.

Access All Areas.net.au: You have the new singer in Travis on this record, was this easier with him & did he give you the vocal work you were looking for?
DH – Deano: Yes on all counts. Travis was the light at the end of the tunnel, i’d been looking for a replacement singer & travis was the answer. In the writing he was really helpful with me & the other guys & with singing he is the brutal vocalist we wanted. Travis is just the guy for divine heresy.

Access All Areas.net.au: With the record, it seems to have gone up in intensity & aggression in the musical side, is this what you were looking to do?
DH – Deano: Yeah, well we wanted to take it to the next level for our band & we all worked hard on our parts, i did my best on guitar, Tim went insane on the drums & the other guys did their parts & we got a pretty heavy record.

Access All Areas.net.au: The first track out is “face breaker” can you tell me about this?
DH – Deano: Well its pretty obvious, its just everything we wanted to do wrapped into one & its a pretty heavy track so its a good indicator for our new direction, so we used it as our first single.

Access All Areas.net.au: Aside from divine heresy, you are also touring with fear factory in Australia in august... how’d this come about?
DH – Deano: Well i was seeing the band Ministry on their tour & Burton who does vocals for fear factory was doing some guest work on tour & we caught up after a show & we got talking & it was like we’d never stopped talking & yeah it went from there & Burton was like we got a tour coming you want in & i was in. I’m so happy to be getting back on tour with fear factory & in Australia of all places its just the best place to do a tour.

Access All Areas.net.au: Getting back to divine heresy, you are currently touring, over the years on tour have there been any stand out tours you’ve done?
DH – Deano: Probably the tour we had with Arch Enemy that was pretty good, they’re just so insane live it was a heap of fun.

Access All Areas.net.au: How has touring been on the new material, good responses?
DH – Deano: Well we’ve been touring for a little while since we got the record done & we’ve played about 2 or 3 of the new songs & they’re going great, we’re having a heap of fun on tour & its just all going great.

Access All Areas.net.au: With the new singer Travis, did you guys have to take a while to rework the old material for his vocals?
DH – Deano: This wasn’t too much of a problem, Travis just got on with things & did some great work singing the old songs, its been going great.

Access All Areas.net.au: With the band, any plans to do another divine heresy Australian tour?
DH – Deano: Yeah, we were there in feb 08 for soundwave & had an awesome time, so we’re hoping to do it again sometime, will see how the new record goes but we’re hooping to get back.

Access All Areas.net.au: Whats happening in the near future?
DH – Deano: Well its just touring, with divine heresy & fear factory, so its exciting times.

Access All Areas.net.au: Well thanks deano, was great speaking with you, all the best with the tour & have a good time in Australia, bye.
DH – Deano: Thanks man, later.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
The creative force behind the genre-defying, legendary metal titans Fear Factory, guitarist Dino Cazares, has returned with a mind-blowing, scathing new offering that shatters the boundaries of conventionality with unrelenting intensity, precision and speed. This new offering from Cazares' extreme metal juggernaut DIVINE HERESY also features one of the genre's most acclaimed drummers, Tim Yeung (ex-Nile, Vital Remains), bassist Joe Payne (ex-Nile) and newcomer vocalist Travis Neal (ex-The Bereaved, Pushed). This pummeling new offering, Bringer of Plagues, redefines the meaning of aggression and takes extreme to an all new level.

Vocalist Neal has undoubtedly proved that he is the perfect fit for the role as he delivers a debut performance for the ages.

DIVINE HERESY teamed up once again with acclaimed producing team Dirty Icon (Logan Mader and Lucas Banker) who has recently produced Cavalera Conspiracy, Gojira and Five Finger Death Punch. This album undeniably upped the ante in brutality, precision and technicality as the group are more focused and tighter than ever before. Bringer of Plagues features the legendary machine gun riffs that'll take your breath away, combined with some jaw-dropping double-bass drum insanity. After a year and a half of touring with the likes of All That Remains, Static-X, Arch Enemy, Shadows Fall and Chimaira, DIVINE HERESY have proven that they are a stellar live act and are a force to be reckoned with.

Cazares further comments: "With Neal now having a few shows under his belt, his confidence is coming across through the new material. The songwriting process has been great and the ideas are constantly flowing. Collaborating with Tim Yeung, Joe Payne and Neal, all together hashing out ideas in the practice space has been very therapeutic and enjoyable. We all have a collective desire to take our performances to the next level with this release to undoubtedly prove that we are one of the most devastating bands in the scene today."

Cazares doesn't accept second best. As you'd expect from the man who co-founded both Fear Factory and Brujeria, his new band isn't about to tread well-worn primrose paths. Meet DIVINE HERESY - not so much a metal band for the modern era as crimson innovators ready to transcend time and place. You see, when you've already made your mark with bands like those mentioned above, there are two things you can do: "I could have carried on being successful in Latin America with Brujeria, and my other band, Asesino," admits the guitarist. "But that wasn't enough. I wanted to do something that would go beyond what I've achieved before. Something to take metal into the 21st Century."

"I know that my fans expect something special from me," says Cazares. "And I would never let them down. With every project that I've done, what's been important is to ensure that I deliver music that doesn't just meet people's expectations, but goes beyond them. That's important to me. I know that I could coast along and do well on the back of my reputation, but that would be to cheat everyone - including myself. I really do believe that with DIVINE HERESY, I'm once again setting the highest standards.

The metal/hard rock world was anxiously awaiting Cazares return since he left Fear Factory and with DIVINE HERESY's highly acclaimed debut release, Bleed The Fifth, he quickly proved that he was the force that propelled them to the forefront of the scene in the 90's. Cazares took his performance to a new level with

DIVINE HERESY whose brutal, unrelenting and overall refreshing sound will quickly garner legions of followers who are starving to hear something devastating and unique.

In 2009, DIVINE HERESY looks to leave their definitive mark upon the genre with their most explosive and dynamic offering yet.

"Bringer of Plagues will be released by Roadrunner in Australia on July 24th.'

 My Festival Experience

Funeral For A Friend
Well I guess the most memorable would be in 2005 when we played the first Australian Taste Of Chaos festival. It was the first night in Perth & the venue was like five or seven thousand & we were sure we’d be pretty unknown. We got up on stage & started playing & then we noticed the crowd & saw that pretty much everyone was singing the songs & we were like “did we sell all our cds in perth or something?”, so that was pretty memorable for me personally. Also playing the Warped tour in America, its like a 2 month travelling township or something, you play shows go hang out & then travel like a thousand miles & start over. There’s been other experiences, but those are probably the standouts for me.

Ideal Lineup?
Well for me I would have to say Nine Inch Nails who I saw at Redding the other year when they played before The Smashing Pumpkins. The set was just amazing & I’m not really even a fan of the band, but the set was just something they really play great. Also I’d probably say Killswitch Engage they are a great band & are good friends of mine, we toured Australia with them on our first tour & made good friends with them & yeah they just play great music & are great musicians I guess. There’s others I think but those would be the 2 I’d say off the top of my head.

Tips for attending Music Festivals?
Well I guess just drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated, stay out of the way of trouble & really just look after yourself & anyone who gets in trouble that you know & you should have a pretty good day.
