ARTIST INTERVIEW
Access All Areas.net.au: Can you tell us a bit about your song ‘Over This?
Cardboard Castle: What good is a pop punk rock EP without a song that is winching about a girl? Life is good but sometimes hard. This song is simply about a boy that loves a girl, but there relationship is tiring and a lot of work. The boy knows he will always love her but for this moment he has just had enough.

Access All Areas.net.au: How would you best describe a Cardboard Castle live show?
Cardboard Castle: It’s a head banging, guitar slamming, energetic, punk pop rock show from the moment the first song starts, till the last strum of our guitars.

Access All Areas.net.au: You guys are currently writing new material for your next EP, how are things going with that?
Cardboard Castle: It’s going really well and has been a very smooth process. We have actually written about 15 songs that we love and are in the process of narrowing it down to 6. So no doubt there will be some hard choices to make. Then we will hit the studios within the next few months.

Access All Areas.net.au: What can fans expect from it?
Cardboard Castle: Cardboard Castle will always deliver high quality punk pop rock goodness. However our band has matured quite alot both lyrically and musically. Fans won’t be disappointed as we endeavour to raise the bar massively with this next CD.

Access All Areas.net.au: You guys made it to the finals of the Garage to V competition which allows you the chance to perform at one of Australia’s largest music festivals, how was that experience to be named a finalist ahead of hundred’s of other bands?
Cardboard Castle: We where stoked, especially at the fact that we had bee chosen over bands that had been around and in the industry for years!

Access All Areas.net.au: And the final was your SECOND gig ever!? No Pressure?!
Cardboard Castle: Yeah we were so nervous. We practised every spare arvo, morning and night in attempt to match up to the other finalist who had years of experience. It was also a fantastic feeling to see our hard work pay off later when the judges placed us 2nd out of the 5 finalist.

Access All Areas.net.au: For those who haven’t yet heard Cardboard Castle, how would you describe your style of music?
Cardboard Castle: We have been describe as Rock, pop, Emo, Post Hardcore even Zany Pop? We seek to have Smooth Melodies, Catchy hooks and energetic live shows. We draw inspiration from such bands as Anberlin, Brand New, Kisschasey, and Hawthorne heights.

Access All Areas.net.au: For those who have heard Cardboard Castle, what’s something that they may not know about the band?
Cardboard Castle: 3 of the 4 members of Cardboard Castle were in a band called 5th Attempt. Which toured a fair portion of Queensland within its 2 years of existence? In which our drummer (Dave) was lead singer.

Access All Areas.net.au: Any stories from the road you can share/band rituals/anything exciting and super juicy!?
Cardboard Castle: Apart from having extreme live shows, things can get pretty crazy off the stage when it comes to us. We have been in around for only 8 months in which time our guitarist has dislocated his shoulder and spent some time in hospital and our drummer has broke his collar bone and also spent quite a bit of time at the hospital. Both on separate occasions, both needing surgery and both from riding dirt bikes.

Access All Areas.net.au: What’s ahead for Cardboard Castle?
Cardboard Castle: With a new EP in production and more and more shows on the way. We hope to be heard and to play for more of Australia this year. We feel our band has really picked up pace this year and we don’t see it slowing down and time soon.
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Cardboard Castle formed in early 2007 and made their entrance known to the music scene. By entering and making it to the Queensland Finals of the Virgin Music Band competion known as "Garage to V". Even though the boys admitted this final was their 2nd Gig. They still stunned and inpressed judges at the sold out crowd at the troubador in Brisbane.

Some might called it beginners luck! That would have been the case if the journey had stopped their. Instead Cardboard Castle has released their First self Titled EP and has already played with such bands as "The Greys", "Butcher Birds", "Swipe Inc" and Operator Please.

The Boys have been Classed as Rock, pop, Emo, Post Hardcore even Zany Pop? But with Smooth Melodies, Catchy hooks and energetic live shows Its Fair to say Cardboard Castle is not your average Rock Band.

Cardboard Castle is currently touring the Gold Coast and Brisbane promoting there recent Ep release. Tour Dates and venues are Shown Above

 My Festival Experience

Bliss N Eso
It was at the Great Escape Festival in Sydney. It was a really nice setting as the stage was set up alongside the Parramatta river. The only problem was about 15 minutes before the show it was raining and there was no crowd in front of the stage. So we where obviously like a little bit worried. Then about 5 minutes to show time, suddenly like clockwork the sun came out as well as a swarm of a few thousand people rowdy and ready to go crazy. Needless to say it was an awesome show and even better because it was in front of a home town crowd!

Ideal Lineup?
Outkast, Bubba Sparxxx, Mos Def Featuring The Roots, K-os, Rage Against the Machine, Dead Prez, Notorious B.I.G & 2pac (hey you said ideal! J)
