ARTIST INTERVIEW
Accessallareas.net.au: Hey Josh, How are you?
Josh Stuart: I am doing great thank you.

Accessallareas.net.au: How are the rest of the guys doing?
Josh Stuart: They are good I guess. I haven't seen them so far today. Haha.

Accessallareas.net.au: Your self titled album came out March 20th, are you excited about that?
Josh Stuart: Yeah, I am. It's good to have it out the reaction for it has been great.

Accessallareas.net.au: That was my next question. How has the reaction been to the new album? Have you heard any feedback from fans yet?
Josh Stuart: It's been really good they seem to into it which is a great thing.

Accessallareas.net.au: How was the writing process?
Josh Stuart: Long, it really was. Whenever people say writing your second album is the most hardest. They aren't lying at all. It was hard. We all have changed and our personal lives have changed so, we were writing about different things and that helped to evolve our sound a little more.

Accessallareas.net.au: You have a tour coming up, are you happy to get out on the road?
Josh Stuart: Yeah, it's been a little while. We have done a whole bunch of festivals in the past. But, I think going out and doing a headlining tour is great because you know people are there to see you. Plus, we get to take some friends of ours along, put on a show and hang out with a few drinks afterwards.

Accessallareas.net.au: What would someone seeing your set for the first time expect?
Josh Stuart: It's not what people expect. It's more rough. People run around with there arm's out in circles getting into the music. So, I don't think anyone really knows what to expect.

Accessallareas.net.au: Name three words that describe your music?
Josh Stuart: Rock, Punk and um, Dance (?)

Accessallareas.net.au: Best piece of advice you've been given but ignored?
Josh Stuart: Stay in Uni... Haha Thanks' Mum!

Accessallareas.net.au: What was your plan b?
Josh Stuart: That would be to stay in Uni. I was half way through an Engineering Degree. It's a 5 year degree and I was 2 and a half years in. The band started to tour and I decided to take my love of music more then study.

Accessallareas.net.au: What's your ultimate ambition?
Josh Stuart: To write good music, put out a great album. Be happy with what I am doing and make a decent living from it.

Accessallareas.net.au: What's the record you never confess to owning?
Josh Stuart: Oh, It's, um.. Top 100.. No.. Hold on I will find it. Top Bonking Songs. Haha.
Accessallareas.net.au: Oh, wow that sounds interesting.
Josh Stuart: It's so bad there is a bunch of 90's songs on there. Salt and Pepper. Mr. Big.

Accessallareas.net.au: Main hobby other than music?
Josh Stuart: I'm a bit of a geek so I would have to say working with computers. I design websites as a day job. But, yeah I have my online games I like to play.

Accessallareas.net.au: What are 'Behind Crimson Eyes‏' plans for 2009?
Josh Stuart: Lot's of tour. There are talks about doing some tour in Japan, which would be great. Just doing some international tour in general is good. The album comes out soon in New Zealand so maybe some tour over there to.

Accessallareas.net.au: Thank you so much for taking the time to talk to me Josh, I wish you guys all the best for your tour's and also your new album.
Josh Stuart: It was my pleasure. Thank you.

INTERVIEW - FEBRUARY 4 2007
Access All Areas.net.au: You guys are about to play the Overcranked festival, with such bands as Helmet, Frenzal Rhomb and God Forbid. Are you excited about it?
Behind Crimson Eyes: Definately excited! Frenzal are always such a fun band to play with and the best part about playing with frenzal is that you are almost 100% guaranteed that no matter who you are, they will make fun of you on stage for everyone to hear ha. We played Rollercoaster Festival in Perth just recently with them to about 10,000 people and the first thing they did when they got on stage was bagged us out. It was seriously amazing haha! I really like God Forbid and Helmet, not to mention Against, Mourning Tide and our awesome friends in Horsell Common so it will be a great day!

Access All Areas.net.au: Is there anyone that you want to check out on the day?
Behind Crimson Eyes: Ruins. I really like Psycroptic and i'm told that the drummer from that band plays in Ruins so i'm expecting good things from them. I'll be keen to check out Wish For Wings, Art Vendelay, and Amity as well.

Access All Areas.net.au: You guys have toured with such bands as MXPX, New Found Glory and The Living End. Do you have a favourite band that you've toured with?
Behind Crimson Eyes: My Favourite two bands that we have toured with are no other than our good friends in Horsell Common and Mourning Tide. They came out with us for our album tour and it was the best tour ever.

Access All Areas.net.au: Is there anyone that you would love to tour with?
Behind Crimson Eyes: For BCE, Refused would be the ultimate but obviously that is not possible. I reckon a tour with Thrice would wicked.

Access All Areas.net.au: You guys are known for your great live shows. Why do you think that is?
Behind Crimson Eyes: Not sure really ha. I guess people enjoy watching us because we like to entertain and have fun on stage. We all feel pretty silly just standing around so getting our shake on is truly the best way for us to have fun.

Access All Areas.net.au: What are some of the records that influenced the band and it's sound?
Behind Crimson Eyes: Thats a great question. We all have such different musical taste and influence but bands like progressive bands like At the Drive In, Refused, Mars Volta, Underoath, Sigur Ross, and Korn have all helped shape the sound of BCE. We truly believe that we have found our own sound in our latest album a Revelation for Despair so your best bet is to have a listen and make up your own mind what it sounds like.

Access All Areas.net.au: Anything else you'd like to add?
Behind Crimson Eyes: See you at Overcranked!

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
At one time, homegrown music was about sweating it out as a 'working class man' or battling against the restraints and expectations of society like some kind of hard drinking, hard living urbanized Mad Max.

Some things have changed, some haven't and it's still a long way to the to the top. Only now, before most bands reach the 'getting ripped off and under paid' stage, they need to have enough fight in them in the first place and for Behind Crimson Eyes, this is what 'Fighting For Our Lives' is about.

"This song represents the point in time where we realised we were the underdog," declares frontman Josh Stuart. "Where we felt like we had to overcome adversity and prove to the world that we will not fade quietly into the night. This song is a biography of our last year and a half, and an anthem for the future years to come."

And as a new generation of music fans embrace a fresh wave of Australian artists, Behind Crimson Eyes are contenders. Like Gyroscope, Kisschasy and BCE's good friends, The Getaway Plan, support of these artists is not about patriotic platitudes but the anthems that kick you in the arse and get you amped for the challenges ahead.

For Behind Crimson Eyes, win or lose is irrelevant all that matters is when faced with the unknown, they will throw their hat in the ring and not the towel. It's what all worthwhile success stories are built on or at least the ones worth telling!

Fighting For Our Lives is released February 20 on i-tunes. Taken from the forthcoming new album 'Behind Crimson Eyes' out March 20.

 My Festival Experience

Birds of Tokyo
In january 2007 we did our first Big Day Out over here in Perth & when we got on stage the security had to close the doors of the pavilion as the room capacity had been reached. Now the thing was the band on before us only got the room like a third full so for heaps of people to rock up to watch us play, at home, was something special & I haven’t forgotten that show since.

Ideal Lineup?
Firstly Weezer, I really like those guys & they play some cool rock stuff, so they’d be awesome to see. I’d also have to say Queens Of The Stone Age, these guys just put on the best show each & every time they step on stage & to see them is always amazing. So I’d go with those 2 for now.

Tips for attending a Music Festival?
Personally, I feel it comes down to just being curteous to others. I mean you go to festivals & you see people just barging through in groups or by themselves & it’s just not on in my books. I suppose drinking water & wearing proper clothing to protect yourself from the sun also help, but basically being curteous is my tip.
