ARTIST INTERVIEW
Access All Areas.net.au: Firstly, you’ve spent a good part of the year in LA recording your new album, how is that going?
Airbourne: Yeah going really good… we’re all done and really excited! Its our first real album so it was like where’s it going to go? Its been a good musical journey and has been really good… we didn’t know where it would end up and we sort of raised the bar where we left off… raised the bar and it’s really rocking… we got over there played a lot faster even than when we did live and now Andy Wallace is mixing it which is even better.

Access All Areas.net.au: Any hints on what fans can expect from it?
Airbourne: I don’t know – I guess its… I don’t know how to explain, from kind of my point of view and it would be different to others… relentless. I think the album will be out in March, around March.

Access All Areas.net.au: Airbourne are heading back out on the road for a fairly extensive tour to end the rest of 2005. What can fans expect to see from an Airbourne live show?
Airbourne: Well they can expect to see good pub rock n roll… cause we respect like Cold Chisel, ACDC, Midnight Oil, Baby Animals that kind of ethos isn’t around anymore the old pub rock n roll Australian style… that’s what we’re going out to do, that’s our school of thought, that’s what they’re going to get.

Access All Areas.net.au: Its been some time since you guys have been on the road, are you itching to get back out there?
Airbourne: Yeah we were over there [in the US] but we are really happy to be back in Australia and I can’t explain what it was like to go away for six months working your ass off then to fly back in and for the pilot to say welcome to Melbourne and seeing the Melbourne MCG… it’s like the Paul Kelly song!

Access All Areas.net.au: You’ve already shared the stage this year with some top acts including The Rolling Stones, You Am I, The Living End, Motley Crue, Magic Dirt and After The Fall how was it supporting such high profile bands?
Airbourne: Its awesome because I mean, especially when you actually get a chance to talk to them and chat to them and stuff because they’re people that have done it. Like the Rolling Stones, we were talking to Keith and he’s really cool and awesome people. There’s some people that would do the typical rock star treatment but its great to put themselves on your level and vie you an audience and when you win them over you’ve done well. They have helped us really realize where you have got to be working towards after getting that taste.

Access All Areas.net.au: Any favourite bands that you have toured with?
Airbourne: The Stones… getting out there with Barnesy, we did a few shows with him and like that was the first time we really started to get out there with some PA and out in front of audiences and talking to him he’s such a top rock n roller that there ever was and he gave me some things to gargle to get the shit out of my throat.

Access All Areas.net.au: Are there any stories you can tell us of things that’s happened on the road?
Airbourne: I don’t know… I have a problem with memory where I just forget things so no one gives me the car keys and the mobile phone because I lose it. Oh I know, Ryan… the day we landed in to Los Angeles we crashed our car and Ryan was driving and we got sued $8000.00 because Ryan was underage and we didn’t know that and thank Christ he wasn’t drinking.

Access All Areas.net.au: And what lies ahead for Airbourne?
Airbourne: Yeah I guess the process of once you do the album you tour you ass off… so touring!!
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
A great Rock & Roll band leaves you feeling like you've just been hit over the head with a big hard dose of rock, they give you such a good time that you just can't help but grin from ear to ear, and like nothing you ever experience again will feel the same. That is Airbourne.

Hailing from a tough Australian country town, these four boys have grown up with a healthy respect for the fine art that is Foot to the floor rock n roll.

Aged between 18-22 one would think that Joel & Ryan (brothers), Roadsy and Streety just haven't had the years to have the kind of rock 'sixth sense' that they have, but with hair flying and guitars blazing Airbourne know how to tear up a stage as well as any of the rock greats.

Already having slayed audiences on the main stage at the 2006 Big Day Out and at such legendary venues as The Tote, The Espy, The duke of Windsor, The Gaelic Club, Spectrum and The Metro, Airbourne have also shared the stage with The Rolling Stones, You Am I, The Living End, Motley Crue, Magic Dirt, After The Fall and The Detroit Cobras to name drop a few. If you haven't seen this band live yet, dust off your air guitar and get ready to brag to your mates that you saw Airbourne when they were still playing 'the local'.
