ARTIST INTERVIEW
AccessAllAreas.net.au: Firstly congratulations on the success of 28Days to date, your about to release your fourth album and very shortly you’re about to kick off your national tour!
Jedi from 28 Days: Yep! Exactly, looking forward to that!

AccessAllAreas.net.au: I really want to get the heads up on your upcoming tour but just quickly before that, you’ve just finished recording your new album, can you tell us about it – who you’ve worked with, the music, etc?
Jedi from 28 Days: Yep well we’ve been in the studio for the last five weeks or six weeks – we spent about four weeks recording and umm about a week and a half justmixing it all down but prior to that we’ve been writing the album for about eight months. Even some of the songs that are going to be included have been around for a long time, one song which is likely to be the next single is a song called “Use It” we actually wrote that for ‘Stealing Chairs’ but didn’t make the final cut basically just because Jay hadn’t come up with any vocal melodies or lyrics for it in time so that song itself has been around for about 2 and a half years. So that’s going to be on there, it’s coming out in October we used Ulrich Wild, he’s worked for heaps bands like Deftones but he’s even done stuff for Jon Bon Jovi – he’s got a huge resume so his really known for his huge guitar sound and actually using other instruments such as turn tables and that sort of thing. Pretty perfect choice for us and we sent him a couple of copies of the album and he was pretty in to them and we started swapping idea’s around and everyone walked away happy and we went in there and finished off the album with him. We’re all really stoked with it!

AccessAllAreas.net.au: With your upcoming tour, is some of the new material going to feature in the shows?
Jedi from 28 Days: Yep definitely! We’re always doing new songs, we’ll play all the usual stuff but we’re definitely going to include some new stuff in there just so that we get a chance out on the road to practice on playing and showcase them live so it gives us an idea to see what works that suit the live shows and which don’t and gives the punters the chance to checkout the new album, the new material.

AccessAllAreas.net.au: 28 Days are always on the road touring, what's it like performing on-stage for you?
Jedi from 28 Days: Its unreal! It’s the same with anything, you start off in front of a crowd and it’s pretty nerve racking but now it absolutely rocks!

AccessAllAreas.net.au: When a fan goes to a 28Days show, what can they expect?
Jedi from 28 Days: Ummm I don’t know it differs from show to show actually! We try to have a good time on stage especially since we’re playing all the time so we’re always trying to do something new and be entertaining. Just go along for a bit of fun!

AccessAllAreas.net.au: What do you like most about touring and can you tell us about any particularly embarrassing or memorable moments?
Jedi from 28 Days: There is a lot! We’ve done a lot of touring overseas and in Australia we’ve been pretty flat out on the road for the last four years or so . We’ve had a lot of good times, had a lot of fun best thing about it – it’s weird. The best thing I can relate it to I guess is like you know when you goto your first school camp in grade six or whatever and you’re going away with all your friends and stuff – yeah it’s just like that, going away with all your mates! A roadtrip - it’s good fun!

AccessAllAreas.net.au: You’ve recently toured on Live ‘N’ Local and also the Channel V Billabong Bus tour with a heap of other great Aussie talent, and you’ve had the chance to tour with other great bands over the coarse of your career, are there any other artists you'd be keen to share the bill with?
Jedi from 28 Days: Yep! Too many to mention I mean you always want to play alongside your hero’s. As far as Australian bands go – I don’t know its not something I’ve given much thought to… I don’t know that’s a good question! Anyone!

AccessAllAreas.net.au: With your live shows, have you had any crazy experiences with bands that you can tell us about?
Jedi from 28 Days: The Offspring – they ended up being an absolute bunch of assholes, to the point where they had a guy at the back of the stage singing along and they had sequences playing along with them and that sort of thing. Never said a word to us the whole tour, they had their own catering after the show and they said we weren’t allowed in there and at the last show they invited us up there and we just went stick it and just ordered pizza’s instead. But ah overseas we’ve had a lot of fun, especially when you’re touring out in Europe and your venturing out, we’ve been some cool places, Chrisiana in Denmark.sort of like a bit more hardcore it’s been set up a social experiment by the government and no police are allowed in there, everythng’s free and legal, there’s a huge skate park and its just a really strange place.

Jedi from 28 Days: What else, we were invited to the VIP Miss Finland Beauty Padgent over there that was pretty cool… just little things here and there, we met Jordan (you know Jordan the playboy girl from England?) well we had a drink with her one night a few years ago.

AccessAllAreas.net.au: With your live shows, have you had any crazy experiences with fans that you can tell us about?
Jedi from 28 Days: You always have your freaks, you’ll always have people coming up saying that “I’m your cousin” and you’re related to them and Im like “No you’re not” or people come up to Jay and say “I know you wrote this song about me” Like “I don’t even know you! I’ve never met you” you know!

AccessAllAreas.net.au: Now after this tour what are your plans? You’ve got your new album out in August, will you be going and touring that album pretty much straight away or what?
Jedi from 28 Days: Yeah for sure, it all depends on the success of the album so it’s all resting on that at the moment but yeah definitely, overseas, Australia – we’ll push it as much as we need to!

AccessAllAreas.net.au: Outside of touring, what is it that you like to do?
Jedi from 28 Days: We muck around, we love to go out and drink and party – we have a lot of spare time on our hands but ahh what else, we’re all computer freaks like we always make music on our computers and all that sort of stuff, just drinking smoking all the usual sort of stuff I guess!

AccessAllAreas.net.au: Anything you want to say to your fans reading this?
Jedi from 28 Days: Come out check out our show and checkout the new material and see what you think!

 My Festival Experience

All Time Low
Your most memorable Festival moment or experience?
Soundwave is amazing but we have always had a blast playing Bamboozle in New Jersey....the crowds have been insane.

Favourite Artist you’ve seen at a Music Festival?
Third Eye blind at bamboozle was insane

What’s your ideal Festival line-up?
Green Day, Blink 182, New Found Glory, All Time Low

What are your tips for attending Music Festivals?
The obvious ones are drink lots of water and bring sunscreen as the days can be long, also maybe a backpack to carry merch? That's what we used to do as kids at the warped tour, other than that just let loose and have a good time. The beauty of festivals is that you can find so many different kinds of artists and maybe even your new favorite band.
